Spartan BJJ CircuitThe Spartan BJJ Circuit is a closed, invitational-only tournament circuit based in the Houston metropolitan area. This is not an open competition — participation is by invitation and affiliation only.
The inaugural season opens October 3, 2026 in Atascocita with Chief Master Henderson. Three 2027 events follow: Spring in Magnolia (Master Cox), Summer in Rosenberg (Master Wyant), and the combined Grand Championships finale in Atascocita (Chief Master Henderson) in October 2027. Every tournament awards medals and contributes to the season-long points standing. Athletes compete across both youth and adult divisions.
The season culminates with the top two competitors in every category earning the right to compete for the coveted title of Spartan Grand Champion.
The Circuit
Tournament Schedule
Three tournaments across the Greater Houston area. Each event counts toward your season total.
The first-ever Spartan BJJ Circuit tournament. Hosted by Chief Master Henderson in Atascocita — where it all begins and the first points go on the board.
Hosted by Master Cox in Magnolia. Second tournament of the circuit — standings take shape and the race for Grand Champion heats up.
Hosted by Master Wyant in Rosenberg. Third tournament of the season — every point matters as competitors lock in their Grand Championship spots.
The season finale and Grand Championship combined. Hosted by Chief Master Henderson — the culminating event where season points are finalized and Grand Champions are crowned.

Awarded to Every Placing Athlete
Custom-struck for the inaugural Spartan BJJ Circuit — earned at every tournament for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishes in all divisions.

This circuit is invitation and affiliation-based. Contact your school's chief master for participation eligibility.
Season 1 — GI Only
The inaugural season will be competed entirely in GI. No-Gi divisions will be considered for future seasons.
Competition Format

Youth Division
Ages vary by category
Submission Victory
Win by forcing your opponent to tap out via choke, joint lock, or other legal submission.
Points Victory
Win by accumulating more points than your opponent through takedowns, sweeps, guards, and positional control.
Adult Division
18 and older
Submission Only Phase
First 4 minutes: submission only. No points can be scored — you must finish or control your opponent.
Points Phase
Final minute: points can be awarded. Takedowns, sweeps, mounts, and back takes all score. Submission wins still count.

Separate brackets for all weight & belt/rank categories

Season Standing
Points System
Points are earned at each tournament and accumulate throughout the season. Every match, every win, every medal counts toward your final standing.
Points Per Tournament
Max possible season total: 20 Points (5 pts × 4 tournaments)
Season Progression
Points apply to both Youth and Adult divisions
Each category (weight class + belt/rank combination) maintains its own standings. The top two athletes in every category qualify for Grand Champion.

Grand Champion

Finish in the top 2 of your category across the three-tournament season.
Compete
The top 2 qualifiers in every category meet one final time to determine the Grand Champion.
Be Crowned
Claim the Spartan Grand Champion title — the highest honor in the circuit.

Every competitor has a path to the Grand Championship. Whether youth or adult, whether lightweight or heavyweight — the top two points earners in every single category earn their shot at being crowned the Spartan Grand Champion.
